چکیده

GRS 1915+105—the first stellar-scale, highly relativistic jet source identified— is a key system for our understanding of the disc-jet coupling in accreting black hole systems. Comprehending the coupling between inflow and outflow in this source is important not only for X-ray binary systems but has a broader relevance for studies of active galactic nuclei and gamma-ray bursts. In this paper, we present a detailed review of the observational properties of the system, as established in the decade since its discovery. We attempt to place it in context by a detailed comparison with other sources, and construct a simple model for the disc-jet coupling, which may be more widely applicable to accreting black hole systems. Black hole spin in GRS 1915 + 105

Microquasars are galactic black hole binary systems with radio jets which can sometimes be spatially resolved to show superluminal motion. The first and best known of this class of objects is GRS 1915+105, the brightest accreting source in our Galaxy. There is persistent speculation that strong jet emission could be linked to black hole spin. If so, the high spin should also be evident in accre...

A&a Manuscript No., and Sgr a Tell Us about Accreting Black Holes

We have derived simpliied equations for a freely expanding, pressure driven jet model as a function of jet power and applied it successfully to the radio cores in the black hole candidates GRS 1915+105, NGC 4258, and M81 which are observationally well deened systems, and to Sgr A*. By using equipartition assumptions, the model has virtually no free parameters and can explain all sources by just...

A Magnetic Bomb Scenario for Relativistic Jet Events in the Microquasar GRS 1915 + 105

We present a magnetic bomb scenario for the multiwavelength behavior during " Type B " relativistic jet events in the microquasar GRS 1915+105. These events are characterized by a hard X-ray dip which terminates in a soft X-ray spike. The scenario, based on the suspended accretion model for long gamma-ray bursts, posits a magnetic dynamo around an accreting Kerr black hole which reaches the Van...

Infrared synchrotron oscillations in GRS 1915 + 105

We report simultaneous observations of the black hole candidate X-ray transient GRS 1915+105 in the infrared at K and in the radio at 2 cm. Oscillations of period 26 min were observed in both wavebands, having (dereddened) peak–peak amplitudes of about 40 mJy and with the IR leading the radio by 7 min, or perhaps by 33 or 59 min. A synchrotron origin for the oscillations continues to seem very ...
